Mary Witherwax Swap from Collector with a Needle

My friend Deb told me about a swap she and her stitching friends are doing.

Of course, we love that they chose Mary Witherwax blocks!

Her group has existed for years, bonded in friendship and love.

They’ve moved all over the country and still retreat together when they can.

They all do hand appliqué and don’t have too many ‘rules’ for the swap.

Having a history of many group projects they know what they like.

Their ground fabrics will all be scrappy shirtings - each member making duplicates of the same blocks.

In the end - they will each have ...

Water Lily Surprise from Quiltwoman Blog

I am still in the first year of owning my new home here in Western NY. Fall was beautiful as the large maple tree in front showed its colors.  Winter gave me a chance for rest and settling in.  Now, as winter turns into spring I am pleasantly surprised to watch the landscape around the house change.  The previous owners must have enjoyed their gardening.

Forget Me Not from Wedding Dress Blue

Well, it is a Sparkle Jane project.  She works at a local Sewing Machine and Fabric Shop.

They needed a block for Quilters Trek (fka Row by Row).  Fast.

I might be (a LITTLE BIT) biased, but I really like the design she created.  Some pieced elements, some applique.  Can be created vertically as a wall hanging (as shown here). Or horizonally in a row.  Tablerunner?  I want to make a baby quilt with the flower blocks and a section with the applique Forget Me Not words.

Or just make potholders.

If you are interested in a kit, you can ...

Amazing Flowers Steal the Show in a New Quilt Pattern from Quiltwoman Blog

Designer Cheryl Daines Brown joins us today:

QuilterChic -Cheryl Daines Brown

Flowers! I love flowers! I loved them enough when I was 5 that David Gilbert and I decided to try eating them. My dad had a beautiful bed of irises and the leaves must have looked delicious to our young, inquisitive, and inexperienced minds.

I just released a new quilt pattern, What a Lot of Flowers! This imaginative quilt is splashing with color! Appliquéd flowers and vines meander across three different-sized strips, with ...
